The Day-Light Group bags £1,000 for Signs and Wonders Light Spectacular from Tesco's community g

We are delighted to announce that having been shortlisted for Tesco's Bags of Help Grant Scheme we have now been awarded £1,000 to involve local groups in the creation of Signs and Wonders Light Festival.

Bags of Help is run in partnership with environmental charity Groundwork, and sees grants raised from the sales of carrier bags awarded to thousands of local community groups each year. Since its launch in 2015, it has provided more than £40 million to over 9,700 local community groups.

Thank you to all the shoppers in the Redruth and Camborne area who voted throughout September and October for all the worthy causes and helped us bag our reward.

Please visit the Current Projects page to find out how our local community groups will be contributing to the creation of our project and how you can get involved.

Work will now begin on bringing the project to life.

We are delighted to be part of this scheme and are extremely happy to be awarded £1,000. "This funding will enable us to to involve our local community groups to shine a light on local heritage and bring some light to the dark winter months of January, February and March. There will be much collaborative fun to be had in the making of the art work and pride at seeing it all aglow, highlighting a series of stunning locations."

Groundworks National Chief executive, Graham Duxbury, said:

"Bags of Help continues to enable local communities up and down the UK to improve the local spaces and places that matter to them. The diversity of projects that are being funded shows that local communities have a passion to create something great in their area. We are pleased to be a part of this journey and provide support and encouragement to help local communities thrive."

Alec Brown, Tesco's Head of Community said:

"Bags of Help has been a fantastic success and we have been overwhelmed by the response from customers. It's such a special scheme because its local people who decide how the money will be spent in the community. We can't wait to see the projects come to life."
