On the theme of Earth
Our second impressive light installation was created for Gwennap Pit. A former sunken earthwork, Gwennap Pit is believed to have been created by the mining industry. It was later sculpted into an amphitheatre and used by John Wesley as a preaching arena. Artist and Signs and Wonders Project Coordinator Kate Beesley has engineered an immersive minescape that casts dancing shadows across the landscape. It was erected in the Quiet Garden partnered with the small illuminated rotating lanterns made with Kate at Portreath Primary School and St. Day and Carharrack Community School. You can expect to find a larger version of Kate’s work at Gwennap Pit on 14th April. Stithians Primary School will be adding their lanterns to this stunning Installation.
